Contact Information

Phone (847)842-8000

Hours

Injured birds accepted without an appointment between the hours of 8:30 am and 10:30 am daily. We do, however, appreciate a courtesy call to the above number prior to your arrival. This helps us plan our resources.

Orphaned birds are accepted between the hours of 8:30 am and 10:30 am after we've discussed the situation with you and agreed that the animals need treatment. Orphaned animals can often be reunited with their parents and, unless injured, this is always best for the animal. As a result, we do require you to call us first so that we can provide you with the best possible solution.

Animals Accepted for Treatment (wild animals only - no domestic animals are accepted)

All birds, including birds of prey*

*We will occasionally have Chicago-area residents drop mammals and reptiles off at Northerly Island as a convenience. All
reptiles and mammals are accepted at Northerly ONLY if specific agreement has been reached. Walk-ins will not be accommodated. All mammals and reptiles are transferred back to either our Barrington or Itasca facility.

Location Address

1400 S. Lynn White Drive
Chicago, Illinois 60605

Directions

To get to our facility at Northerly Island, take Lake Shore Drive to the 18th Street exit. If headed southbound, turn left at 18th Street and proceed under Lake Shore Drive. Follow the road around as it curves north. Keep heading towards the Shedd Aquarium and then follow the road east towards the Adler Planetarium. Before you get to the Adler, turn right on Lynn White Drive. Pass the Burnham Harbor Yacht Club and the Charter One Pavilion. Our building is the last building on the left-hand side of Lynn White Drive. (It is a stone aggregate building with glass and white pillars.) Park in the first parking lot for that building (north side) and walk around the outside of the building to the east. Our entrance is an exterior entrance on the east side of the building, furthest to the north.
